Iconic films: To catch a thief (1955)

Without any doubt this one of my favourites films ever. I’ve seen it at least 10 times… and never get tired of it!!

It was directed in 1955 by Alfred Hitchcock and starred by two actors in state of grace: Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. It tells the story of a slippery jewel thief who “woks” in the French Riviera. The film is a visual feast for its photography, its landscapes, its wardrobe, its decoration and, of course, its plot.

Edith head was in charge of the wardrobe design. And eventough she  didn't  win the Oscar (unbelievably), To catch a thief became her favourite film ever. Grace Kelly felt so much in love with the chiffon dresses she wear in two crucial scenes of the film that Edith decided to give them to her.

Here below you’ll find some of the most emblematic scenes (that don’t do justice to the film!!). So I invite you to watch it and enjoyed it…

Even on the beach she looks incredibly glamourous... I love her cat's eye glasses!

Amazing. She looks like a grecian goddess!!

The other divine gown

"I'm going to put "something" for the beach"- she says in that scene...

Sketch of the gold lamé dress she wears in the climax of the film
