From London with love (III): The Victoria and Albert Museum

El domingo fue el día que más disfruté de Londres (excepto por el hecho de que mi hermana trabajaba). Hizo un día precioso y después de unas últimas compras me dirigí al Victoria and Albert Museum. Si sois amantes de la moda, no podéis dejar de visitar este museo, en mi opinión, uno de los mejores que he visitado jamás (¡con permiso de mi adorado Musée D’Orsay!). Y si no os gusta la moda, también es visita obligada porque sus salas de arquitectura, escultura, pintura y joyas os aseguro que no os decepcionarán

Para que os hagáis una idea de lo grande que es, os diré que tras varias horas deambulando por sus pasillo y exposiciones me perdí… literalmente. ¡Y tuve que pedir ayuda para encontrar el guardarropa donde había dejado el abrigo! Jajajajaja

Por la tarde me acerqué a Carnaby Street y los almacenes Liberty (¡que estaban a reventar!) y disfruté de las luces navideñas antes de recoger a mi hermana e irnos a tomar algo en un típico pub inglés.

Sunday was the day I enjoyed London most (except from the fact that my sissy had to work). The day was beautiful and after a little shopping, I headed to the Victoria and Albert Museum.  If you love fashion you CAN’T miss this museum, in my opinion, one of the bests I’ve ever visited (with permission of my beloved Musée d’Orsay!) . If you don’t like fashion, the visit is also mandatory as the architecture, sculpture, painting and jewels sections won’t disappoint you.

If you don’t have an idea about the dimensions of the museum let me tell you that after several hours wandering around their aisles and exhibitions, I got lost… literally! And I had to ask for help to find the cloakroom where I’ve left my coat! LOL

During the afternoon I went to Carnaby Street and Liberty department store (which was absolutely crowed!) and enjoyed the Christmas lights before picking up my sissy and went to a typical English pub to have a drink.

Next Friday my last post about London!

From London with love (II): Camden and Highgate Cemetery (part 2)

Tras nuestra visita a Camden (aquí), nos dirigimos al cementerio de Highgate (¡mil gracias Victoria por haberme hecho descubrir este hermoso y recóndito lugar de Londres!). De camino cruzamos el parque de Waterloo y no pudimos resistirnos a la tentación de hacer fotos lanzando hojas...;-) ¡Estaba todo tan precioso! 

De ahí continuamos hasta Highgate para una visita guiada por el cementerio de aproximadamente una hora (chicas si vais a ir es imprescindible reservar, llevar botas de agua ¡¡e ir abrigada hasta las orejas porque el frío y la humedad traspasan hasta los huesos!!) 

Acabamos el día admirando los espectaculares y bellísimos escaparates de Harrods, este año dedicados a las princesas Disney. ¡Otra experiencia que no os podéis perder!

After our visit to Camden (here), we headed to Highgate Cemetery (thank you so much Victoria for making me discover this little London jewel!!). On our way we crossed Waterloo Park and couldn't resist the temptation to take some pictures throwing the leaves that were on the floor… Everything looked so beautiful!!

From there we arrived to Highgate for a one hour guided visit (ladies if you go is mandatory to book in advance, to wear your rainy boots and to wrap up very well as the cold and the humidity are so intense that they will pierce you to your bones!!)

We finish the day visiting and admiring the spectacular Harrods’ shop windows, this year inspired by Disney princesses. Another experience you can’t miss!!

From London with love (II): Camden and Highgate Cemetery (part 1)

El primer día de Londres fue realmente intenso. Antes de empezar la jornada decidimos sacar unas fotos en un tranquilo parque que hay al lado de donde vive mi hermana. De allí nos dirigimos a Camden (¿os podéis cree que nunca había estado allí?). Aunque no seáis mucho de tatuajes, piercings o ropa de segunda mano, es un sitio que no podéis dejar de visitar si vais a Londres ya que representa la más pura esencia del estilo “underground”.  

El mercadillo es una mezcla extraña de tiendas de ropa, puestos de comida exótica (¡creedme MUY exótica!) o bares de música. Hay un tienda llamada Cyberdog que merece la pena la visita. Nunca imaginé que pudiera existir un sitio así. ¡¡Sólo por ver la indumentaria de los dependientes merece la pena!! Jajajajaja…

My  first day in London  was really intense. Before we started with the visits we decided to took some pictures in a beautiful park near my sister’s house. From there we headed to Camden (can you believe I’ve never been there before?). Even if you’re not into tattoos, piercing or second hand shops, it’s a place you can’t miss if you go to London as it represents the most pure “underground” culture essence.

The market is a strange mix of clothes shops, exotic meals stands (VERY exotic!) or pubs. There’s a shop called Cyberdog that deserves one visit.  I’ve never imagined that a place like this could exist. Even if it’s only to see the clothes of the sales assistants, it’s worth he visit!! LOL
