Iconic film: Picnic (1955)

Good morning guys!! How’s been your weekend?? Hope you enjoyed it!!

Today we go back to one of my favourite sections with one film I saw again not long ago: Picnic (1955) – nominated to six Academy Awards and winner of two.

Directed by Joshua Logan and starred by William Holden, Kim Novak, Susan Strasberg, Rosalind Russell and Arthur O’Connell the films tells the story of Hal Carter (Holden) an ex-football hero who arrives to a rural Kansas town in search of an old school friend. His arrival (just on Labor Day) turns the town’s tranquillity upside down, particularly when he falls I love with Magde Owens (Novak) who’s engaged with his best friend Alan Benson (Cliff Robertson)

The plot happens in 24 hours and is a perfect example of the 50’s rural life in deep America (in fact some of the scenes of the Labor Day are semi-documentary as they were recorded during a real Labor Day celebration)

Have you seen it guys??
Happy beginning of the week!!

PS: Sorry for the quality of the pictures but it’s difficult to find good quality images from old films!

I love this image. Its reminds somehow to the art works of the French impressionists such such as Monet, Manet et Renoir

Mrs. Novak wardrobe was designed by the amazing Jean Louis. This delicate soft pink dress is the main design of the film.

The dance scene one of the most sensual I've ever seen in the big screen

On repeat

Sometimes strapless dresses can be difficult to wear during daytime. That's why I love the idea of pairing them a basic t-shirt underneath.

 What do you think ladies?
Happy Wednesday!

Good morning ladies! Apologies for the lack of posts last week but personal matters have forced me to stay away from the 2.0 world…

I wish you a happy Tuesday!!

Fashion crush: J. Crew Lookbook Fall 2013

¡¡Feliz lunes!!

Good morning ladies!!

How’s been your weekend? We've been a little busy with the celebration of my nephews' christening. (I promised to show pictures of the look soon!)

In the meantime, today I want to talk you about a fashion brand that has stolen my heart and which my American readers love as much as we love Zara: I’m talking about J. Crew.

J. Crew started in 1983 selling its clothes by post. Six years later, the company opened a flagship store at New York. In their beginnings the brand was created as an affordable version of the preppy Ralph Lauren designs. But nowadays, and thanks to Jenna Lyons (president, creative director and queen of “mix and match”) the brand is worldwide recognised for its particular style: colourful clothes, prints mix, deluxe jewellery and “made in Italy” shoes.

Lucky we, J.Crew delivers worldwide and though the prices are not like Zara (J. Crew’s quality is much higher) if you visit their web regularly you could find great offers!

Did you know the brand, ladies?
Happy Monday!!
