Iconic film: Roman holiday (1953)

I haven't talked about cinema for a while so today we’ll begin the week with a film that I’m sure you all watched 8and if not please do it!!): Roman Holiday

Directed in 1953 by Billy Wilder and starred by Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn, it tells the story of  Anya (Hepburn) a young princess that during an official visit to Rome decides to escape from palace and discover the city on her own.  During her adventures she meets Joe Bradley (Peck) an American reporter working for the Daily American in Rome. At first he didn’t recognize her but  when he does he decide to write an article full of unexpected photographs of the princess with the help of friend Irving Radovich (Eddie Albert). During her trip she lives an amount of funny situations and nice moment sabut at the end she must return to palace, although she has fell in love with Joe…

This was the first important role of Audrey Hepburn and the one that launched her to stardom (instead of Sabrina as many people think!). In fact she won the Academy Award for Best Actress and the film won other 2 out 7 nomination Awards (best costume design – created by the amazing Edith Head and best screenplay)

A film that you can’t miss, particularly if you’re Audrey’s fans!!!

Have you watched it?
Happy Monday and thanks for your comments!!

I love her new hair style!!

  13. Audrey Hepburn is my favourite actress. She is so beautiful, glamourus and classy. Roman Holiday is one of my favourite films, but I think the best is the Breakfast at Tiffany's.
