De vez en cuando me gusta experimentar combinando  colores inusuales,  prendas de diferentes estilos o con accesorios llamativos. Por eso cuando ayer escogí ponerme esta falda decidí probar como quedaría con  una chaqueta deportiva con capucha, una camiseta básica y unos zapatos abotinados de vestir…

Precisamente una de las cosas que más me gusta de escribir un blog  de moda es que te anima a probar cosas que quizás nunca habrías probado de otra manera.

From time to time I like to try new things like the combination of unusual colors, the mix of different styles or wearing a statement accessory. That’s why when I yesterday chose to wore this skirt I decided to combined it with a hoodie, a basic t-shirt and bootie shoes …

As a matter of fact one of the things I like most from writing a fashion blog is that I feel the need to try new matches that I wouldn’t probably try under other circumstances.

Fashion tip: ¡¡Las faldas largas estilizan mucho la figura así que usa y abusa de ellas!! Ten la precaución de marca bien la cintura ya sea con un cinturón, una chaqueta entallada, una blusa anudada... 

Fashion tip: Long skirts elongate your shape so use and abuse it!! Just be careful and make your waist visible with a belt, a well-cut jacket, a knotted blouse... 

Iconic film: Some like it hot (1959)

Creo que Con faldas y a lo loco (1959)  es una de las comedias más divertidas que he visto en muchos años. Sólo por ver a Toni Curtis (Joe/Josephine) y Jack Lemmon (Jerry/Daphne) actuando vestidos de mujer, vale la pena. Y desde luego por escuchar a Marilyn Monroe cantar la mundialmente conocida canción I wanna be loved by you.

Dirigida por Billy Wilder (el artífice de genialidades como El apartamento (1950), La tentación vive arriba (1955) o Irma La Douce (1963) ) narra la historia de dos músicos que tras presenciar la Matanza de San Valentín en el Chicago de 1929 deciden hacerse pasar por mujeres para formar parte de una banda femenina. Allí conocen a la sensual y explosiva Sugar (Marilyn Monroe) que provocará un lucha entre los dos para ver quién  la conquista y de paso nos dejará algunas de las mejores escenas del cine cómico (como la de la fiesta nocturna en la litera del tren de Daphne).

El francés Jean Louis (Gilda, Imitación a la vida, Picnic) fue el encargado del diseño de los inolvidables vestidos de Marilyn (el abrigo negro de las estación o el vestido dorado con el que canta I wanna be loved by you son iconos de la historia del cine).

Según dicen, Marilyn tuvo serios problemas para recordar el texto por lo que debían colocarle carteles por todas partes. ¡De hecho en alguna de las escenas se aprecia claramente como sus ojos leen! Otra de las curiosidades de esta película fue el rumor que corrió sobre el comentario de Toni Curtis había hecho tras besar a Marilyn (“Es como besar a Hitler”) algo que años más tarde se encargó de desmentir.

En un principio la idea era rodarla en color pero finalmente se descartó puesto que el espeso maquillaje que debían llevar Toni Curtis y Jack Lemmon creaba un efecto muy poco natural. ¡Y gracias a Dios que lo hicieron en blanco y negro porque no creo que la peli hubiera sido lo mismo en color!

Pues nada chicas, ¡que si queréis pasar un rato realmente divertido esta película es una excelente opción!

I believe that Some like it hot (1959) is one of the funniest films I’ve seen in many years. It’s really worth it to see Toni Curtis (Joe/Josephine) and Jack Lemmon (Jerry /Daphne) acting dressed like women. And obviously to hear Marilyn Monroe signing the world famous song I wanna be loved by you. 

Directed by Billy Wilder (the genius of The Apartment (1950), The seven year itch (1955) or Irma la Douce (1963) ) it tells the story of two musicians who witness the Saint Valentine’s Day massacre in Chicago 1929. To hide from the gangsters they decide to disguise themselves as women and join a feminine band that would take them away from the city. There they met the sensual yet sweet  Sugar (Marilyn Monroe) who would provoke a fight between the two friends to see who conquers her causing some of the best comic scenes ever seen in the cinema (for instance the night party in Daphne’s bed in the train).

The French Jean Louis (Gilda, Imitation to life, Picnic) was the designer for the unforgettable Marilyn’s designs (the black coat at the station or the golden dress she wears while signing I wanna be loved by you are cinema history’s icons).

It was said that she really had problems to remember her texts. For that reason she read it from the several signs the crew wrote for her. In fact in some scenes one can appreciate her eyes reading the lines!! Another curiosity is the rumor that came across after Toni  Curtis kissed her on the set (“It is like kissing Hitler”). Many years after he denied it during a personal interview.   

The film was planned originally to be filmed in color but due to the strange effect the heavy make-up of the actors made in the screen, they finally decided to do it in  b/n. Thanks God!!

Well ladies, if you really want to have a nice time this film is an excellent option!

Vale lo confieso: el osito de TOUS nunca ha sido uno de mis emblemas favoritos. De hecho acabé aburriéndolo de verlo en todas partes... Por eso cuando durante la producción de Thread descubrí la nueva colección de la firma, me quedé maravillada. Ya os enseñé algunas piezas en las fotos que subí pero lo cierto es que no se pueden apreciar ni los detalles ni los magníficos diseños como en estas fotos que os muestro a continuación.

Es evidente que la marca ha querido modernizarse sin perder sus raíces y lo ha conseguido con una colección exquisita y original ¡¡por la que cualquier fashionista moriría!!

Ok I admit it: the TOUS teddy bear has never been one of my favourite logos. In fact I was a little bored of seeing it everywhere… That is why when I discover the new collection during the Thread production I was astonished. I already showed you some pieces in that post but you couldn't appreciate the  details and magnificent designs as in the ones I’m showing you now.

It’s clear that the brand wants to become modern without loosing its roots and I think they’ve reached it with an exquisite and original collection that  every fashionista would die for!!
