She wore... violet velvet...

Una de las cosas que más me gustan es descubrir en mi armario prendas de hace años que están de total actualidad.  Como esta chaqueta de terciopelo violeta que compré en una de esas ventas privadas…¡por sólo 30 € cuando la etiqueta marcaba 400€!

Puesto que es muy de vestir y la llevé durante el día decidí combinarla con unos tejanos rotos y una camiseta de rayas (¡otra de mis obsesiones!)

(Siento que las fotos no sean muy buenas pero tuvimos que hacerlas deprisa y corriendo porque tuvimos un día de locos. Está claro que hay cosas que no se puede hacer con prisas…)

One of the things I love most is to open my wardrobe and find there old pieces that are completely  trendy. Like this violet velvet jacket I bought years ago in a private sale… for only 30€!! (it was tagged 400€!!)

As it’s very dressy I decide to combined it with distressed jeans and a striped t-shirt (another of my lately obsessions!!).

(Sorry about the pictures but we took them quite fast as we had a crazy day. It’s obvious that certain things require its own time…)

Cheap and Chic market

Empezamos la semana con un post del evento al que tuve el placer de asistir el pasado viernes: Cheap and Chic Market. Lo  cierto  es  que  de  cara  a  las Navidades estos eventos son una forma ideal de encontrar regalos originales y diferentes si necesidad de gastarse una fortuna.

El Cheap and Chic  (que se celebró el viernes 14 y el sábado 15) reunió a una serie de diseñadores independientes entre los que me gustaría destacar Tousette by Jose Puerta y Betty’s Bakery (molecular sensations).

Los preciosos tocados de Jose merece un mención especial por lo que en breve haré un post para hablaros de él. En cuanto a los pasteles de Betty… bueno ¿qué os puedo decir? ¡Tan dulces cómo ella! Tuvimos la suerte de participar en un taller de decoración de galletas y el resultado no está nada mal para ser la primera vez ¿no? ¡¡De hecho disfruté tanto con el taller que creo que voy a hacer uno de sus cursillos!! Jajajajaja… ¡¡Si sois de Barcelona os aseguro que merece la pena!!

We begin the week with the post of the event I had the pleasure to attend last Friday: Cheap and Chic Market. Now that Christmas is here, these events are a great way to find original and unique presents without spending a fortune.

The Cheap and Chic Market took place on Friday 14^th  and Saturday 15^th  and counted with the presence of independent designers among which I’d love to stand out Tousette by Jose Puerta and Betty’s Bakery (molecular sensations).

The hats and fascinators by Jose are so beautiful that they deserve a post of their own. Regarding Betty’s creations, what  can I say?? They’re as sweet as she is!! I enjoyed the workshop so much that I’m thinking about attending one of her courses!! Hahahahaha… If you’re in Barcelona it’s really worth it!!

Introducing you my Web (a post longer than usual but worth it to read...)

El  proyecto personal que os presento  hoy es algo en lo que llevo trabajando  muuuuucho tiempo y me apetece compartirlo con todas vosotras.

En contra de lo que muchas podáis pensar no vivo del blog (¡hay muy pocas afortunadas que lo consiguen!) pero mi trabajo está muy relacionado con la moda puesto que soy asesora de imagen personal y corporativa.

Hoy en día que están tan de moda profesiones como el  personal shopper, el estilista o el asesor de imagen es importante saber que aunque pertenezcan al mismo sector son diferentes entre sí.  

El personal shopper es el profesional que compra para el cliente en función de sus gustos y personalidad. Aunque en un 90% de las ocasiones se le relaciona con la moda, un personal shopper puede ser un experto en arte, comida, antigüedades, coches...

Según la RAE (Real Academia Española) el estilista es la persona que se dedica al estilismo y cuidado de la imagen ( teniendo en cuenta que el estilismo es la actividad del profesional que se dedica a cuidar del estilo y la imagen, especialmente en el mundo de la moda y la decoración.)

Finalmente el asesor de imagen es aquel profesional que potencia las cualidades de una persona o empresa y disimula las que no lo son tanto. El asesor de imagen que no se limita a trabajar/modificar tan sólo el vestuario (prendas y complementos) , sino que también trabaja/modifica el aspecto externo (asesoría  de belleza), las habilidades sociales y la comunicación.   

¡¡Sin duda es un trabajo apasionante porque enseñar a la gente a desarrollar su potencial y conseguir lo mejor de sí mismo os aseguro que no tiene precio…!!

Después de este rollo chicas os invito a visitar mi web para que conozcáis un poco mejor mi trabajo. Por supuesto estoy abierta a que me hagáis TODAS las preguntas podáis tener al respecto.

Y ahora las buenas noticias (¡¡al menos así lo creo!!). The personal project I’m presenting you today is the one I’ve been working for a looong time and I‘m glad to finally share it with you.

Maybe most of you think that my blog is my way of life but it isn’t (only a few lucky can do it!!). However my job is very close to the fashion world as I’m a personal and corporate image consultant.

Nowadays that professions like personal shopper, fashion stylist or image consultant are so “à la mode” I believe it is important to know the differences among them (‘cause they’re not exactly the same ladies!).  

A personal shopper is the professional that buys for the customer according to his tastes and personality. Even though  90% of people associate this profession to the fashion world, a personal shopper can also specialize in art, food, antiques, cars…

On the other side we have the stylist. According to RAE (Royal Spanish Academy) is the person that takes care of the stylism and personal image.

Finally the image consultant is the professional that guides you in presenting yourself to your best advantage and in expressing your highest potential. The image consultant  not only works on your wardrobe (clothes and accessories) but also on your physical appearance, your social skills and communication skills. 

Without any doubts it is a extremely rewarding job ‘cause teaching people on how to develop their potential has no price...!!

Ya sabéis como me gustan los vestidos. Creo que no sólo son cómodos y favorecedores (si llevas un corte adecuado a tu cuerpo) sino que son fáciles de combinar, frescos en verano y muy femeninos.

El que os enseño hoy me lo compré hace varias temporadas en Zara y me encanta. No se aprecia mucho pero es de plumetti y las mangas farol junto con los botones de perla le dan un aire superfemenino.  Para romper un poco  con el look lady lo combiné con una cazadora motera en beige claro ideal para la primavera con zapatos a tono. El bolso de mano tono rosa le aporta el toque primaveral.

You all know how I love dresses. Not only are they comfy and flattering (as long as you wear the cut that flatters your body shape) but they’re easy to combine, fresh during the summer and very feminine.

I bought the one I’m showing you today some years ago in Zara and I love it. Even if you can’t appreciate well it is plumetti and the puffy sleeves give it an ultra feminine flair. I combined it with a biker jacket in light beige matching the shoes. The clutch gives the spring touch.

Zazo & Brull skirt

Compré esta falda hace muuuuchos años y es una de esas piezas que guardo con gran cariño (como por ejemplo mi vestido de Jean Charles de Castelbajac). Me encanta la originalidad de su corte su movimiento y que se trata de una pieza única diseñada por Zazo & Brull  una pareja de vanguardistas diseñadores catalanes a los que os invito a conocer. 

La llevo con mis recién adquiridos botines de Mango, mi vieja cazadora de piel y uno de los bolsos de la colección de Jimmy Choo para H&M que conseguí tras 5 horas de cola (¡y de aguantar mogollón de empujones!).

I bought this skirt maaaany years ago and is one of those pieces that I keep with love (like for instance my Jean Charles de Castelbajac dress). I love the originality of the cut, its movement and that it is a unique piece designed by Zazo & Brull, two catalan designers that I invited you to know.

I’m wearing it with my new Mango booties, mi vintage leather jacket and one of the bags form the Jimmy Choo for H&M collection that I got after queuing for 5 hours (and resist a lot of pushes!!)

Iconic film: Grease (1978)

¿Quién no ha bailado o cantado alguna vez las canciones de Grease? ¿Quién no se ha “transformado” alguna vez como Olivia Newton-John lo hace la final de la película para conquistar el corazón de John Travolta? Sin duda alguna Grease ha sido (y aún es) uno de los musicales que más éxito ha tenido en la historia del cine.

Dirigida en 1978 por Randal Kleiser y basada en el musical del mismo título escrito en 1972 por Jim Jacobs y Warren Casey, Grease está protagonizada por Olivia Newton-John (Sandy Olsson), John Travolta (Danny Zucko), Stockard Channing (Rizzo) y Jeff Conaway (Kenickie). Narra la historia de dos adolescentes (Danny y Sandy) que tras conocerse y enamorarse un verano deben despedirse porque Sandy debe partir para Australia. Pero cuando Danny regresa al instituto se lleva una gran sorpresa al ver que los padres de Sandy no sólo han cambiado de parecer sino que ella además va a su mismo instituto.

Para proteger su imagen de tipo duro ante su pandilla, Danny hace ver que Sandy no le interesa pero nada puede hacer por esconder sus verdaderos sentimientos. La escena final es mítica: Sandy aparece en la feria del instituto vestida de una forma tan explosiva que hace que Danny caiga rendido a sus pies mientras cantan la archiconocida “You’re the one that I want”. (Por cierto el conjunto fue aportación de la propia Olivia y los pantalones le estaban tan ajustados que la cremallera se le rompió durante el rodaje de esa escena).    

    

Como curiosidades comentaros que esta fue la película que lanzó a Olivia a la fama a sus 30 años (¡si tenía esa edad cuando interpretó a Sandy que debía representar unos 17 años!) y afianzó la carrera de John Travolta. Además la canción “You’re the one that I want” creada especialmente para la película, ¡estuvo a punto de no aparecer porque el director la odiaba!

Una película repleta de escenas y canciones inolvidables, de esas que consiguen ponerte de buen humor con sólo tararearlas...

¡Una película ideal para comenzar la semana llenos de energía!

Who hasn’t danced or sung at least once, one of the Grease songs?  Who hasn't ever transformed like Olivia Newton John does at the end of the film to conquer John Travolta’s heart? Without any doubt Grease has been (and still is) one of the most successful musical in the cinema history.

Directed in 1978 by Randal Kleiser and based in the musical written in 1972 by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, Grease is starred by Olivia Newton-John (Sandy Olsson), John Travolta (Danny Zucko), Stockard Channing (Rizzo) and Jeff Conaway (Kenickie). It tells the story of two youngsters (Danny and Sandy) that fall in love one summer but they have to say goodbye at the end of it ‘cause Sandy has to come back to Australia. But when Danny starts the high school again he's surprised to see Sandy there. Their parents have changed their mind and have decided to stay in the States.

To protect his image of "bad guy", Danny makes his friends believe that he’s not interested in Sandy anymore but he cannot hide his real feelings for a long time. The final scene is a mythical: Sandy arrives to the High School fair dressed to kill so Danny falls at her feet while they both sing “You’re the one that I want”. (By the way, the outfit Olvia wore for this scene was her choice and the trousers were so incredibly tight that the zipper broke).

Some curiosities are that this film launched Olivia to the stardom at the age of 30 (yes she was 30 years old while Sandy was suppose to have about 17!!). Besides that, the director hated the song “You’re the one that I want” so much that it was about not to appear in the film!!             

A film full of unforgettable scenes and songs, that make your spirit cheer up just by humming them…

An ideal film to begin the week full of energy!!
