Iconic film: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1958)

I personally think there’s no other film in the cinema history with two amazing beautiful stars that had such a brutal physical chemistry, as Paul Newman and Elizabeth Taylor had in Richard Brooks’ 1958 version of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Maggie “the cat” (Elizabeth Taylor) and Brick (Paul Newman) are a marriage hang by a thread after the death (in fact suicide) of Brick’s best friend, Skipper. They’re all together at Brick’s parents house to celebrate the anniversary of the patriarch Big Daddy (Burl Yves) we they discover that the father has a cancer and he is about to pass away. It is then when the older brother and her wife begin an argument in order to change Big Daddy’s will. But Big Momma (Judith Anderson) steps out as a strong figure to stop them.

Originally, the film was supposed to be filmed in B&W, but it finally was filmed in colour so as to enhance the beauty and amazing eye’s colour of the two stars. (In fact, it was nominated to an Oscar for that)

The wardrobe designer was Helen Rose (Edith Head's old rival) who designed for Taylor one of the most beautiful dresses of the cinema history: the white one.

A classic to watch over and over…

I love this scene: she tries to sit but he puts her aside with his crutch

The amazing white dress...
...and spectacular negligée

Is it possible to resist to a man like him??
A perfect decolleté..
