Style icon: Dita Von Teese

Born Heather Renée Sweet, Dita Von Teese is one of the most glamorous style icons of our time (at least in my opinion). With her 40’s pinup style (clearly inspired by Betty Page), her porcelain skin and  her retro style wardrobe Dita has become the embodiment of feminity and exquisite taste to dress.

Yes, maybe her profession is not very glamorous (she’s a tripper… well burlesque dancer) but she performs her numbers with such delicacy, elegance and sensuality that for sure it will change your perception of what a stripper is. (I suggest you not to miss the show she created with the dancers of the Crazy Horse in Paris).

Some of her favourite designers are Dior, Jean Paul Gaultier and Christian Louboutin. In fact it is very usual to see her walking in her Pigalle, that also wore for her Crazy Horse show. Buy the way I find it difficult to understand how is it possible that someone can dance/move in such gracefully  way in a 12 cm killer heels...

Well maybe for that reason she’s unique…
Do you like her style?

My goodness... Have you seen that waist????

Iconic film: Out of Africa (1985)

As you can see, lately I have a special preference for romantic films (♪♫ Qué será, será…♪♫) …;-)

This week is the turn of the film Out of Africa directed in 1985 by Sydney Pollack and starred by two actors in state of grace: Meryl Streep and Robert Redford.

Based on the autobiography Out of Africa by Karen Blixen (played by Meryl Streep) the film tells the story of the Danish baroness that decides to marry her distant cousin baron Hans Blixen (Klaus Maria Brandauer). After the wedding they move to Kenya where he has a coffee plantation. But after a while Karen discovers that her husband is a womanizer and has no intention to take care of the plantation, so she decides to take control and fight for the harvest to be a good one. In the meantime, she meets Denys Finch Hatton (Robert Redford) a local hunter and adventurer from who she fells crazy in love.

The film won 7 Oscar awards, among them best picture, best director and best adapted screenplay.

The wonderful wardrobe was designed by Milena Canonero, who also created the one of Barry Lindon (1975), Cotton Club (1984) or Marie Antoinette (2006) thanks to which she won her third Oscar.

An unforgettable film to watch once and again…

¡¡Happy Monday!!

The most handsome man in the world

I know I may sound like a superficial woman for writing this… But I do believe that some cinema myths should never get older even less pass away…

Look of the day: A touch of mustard please!

¿Cómo vais a combinarlo?

If you are regular to my blog, you’ll probably know how much I like to play with colours and try not so “usual” combinations…

Without any doubt mustard is one of the A/W colours but I like to introduce trendy colours is small doses such as with accessories o rt-shirts. That is why when I saw this mustard bag in Bershka I couldn’t resist the temptation to bring it home with me: I love its texture, shape and size. The golden finishing add that touch of “luxe chic” that drives me crazy…

I decided to combine it with a blouse and a skirt in intense purple with a certain 70’s flair (even if it looks electric blue I promise you that is purple!!). Super high heels and golden accessories complete this autumnal look.

Do you like mustard colour?
How are you going to combine it?

PS: A thousand thank you for all your comments ladies. I promise I'll catch up this weekend!!
