Iconic film: Rear Window (1954)

De todas las películas de Hitchcock, La Ventana Indiscreta (1954)  es mi segunda favorita (la primera es sin duda Atrapa a un ladrón)

Protagonizada por James Stewart (L.B. Jeffries), Grace Kelly (Lisa Fremont), Thelma Ritter (espectacular en su papel de la enfermera Stella) y Raymond Burr (Lars Thorwald) narra la historia de un fotógrafo que tras un accidente debe estar con la pierna enyesada y tiene como única distracción espiar la vida de sus vecinos con sus binoculares y su cámara de fotos. Una noche de insomnio detecta un comportamiento extraño en uno de sus vecinos (Raymond Burr) tras la inesperada desaparición de su mujer. Decide investigar el suceso con la ayuda de su novia (Grace Kelly) para finalmente descubrir que se trata de un peligroso asesino.       

Edith Head fue de nuevo la encargada del vestuario de la película y de los cinco espectaculares modelos que Grace Kelly luce en la misma. (Lamento la mala calidad de algunas de las imágenes pero es muy difícil encontrar fotografías de películas antiguas en las que se pueda apreciar bien el vestuario).

Considerada por muchos como el mejor thriller de Hitchcock y por otros como la mejor película de temática voyeur de la historia del cine, La Ventana Indiscreta es un clásico que no os podéis perder.

From all the Hitchcock’s films, Rear Window (1954) is my second favourite (first one being To catch a thief ) 

Starred by James Stewart (L.B. Jeffries), Grace Kelly (Lisa Fremont), Thelma Ritter (amazing in the role of nurse Stella) and Raymond Burr (Lars Thorwald) it tells the story of a photographer that has been injured in an accident and is obliged to stay at his apartment while he recovers. As only distraction he observes the life of his neighbours through his binoculars and his camera. One night he discovers the strange behaviour one of his neighbours (Raymond Burr) and decides to investigate with his girlfriend Lisa (Grace Kelly) what has happened just to find out that he’s a murderer.  

Edith Head was once more in charge of the film’s wardrobe and the design of the five amazing dresses Grace Kelly wears in it. (I’m sorry for the bad quality of the pictures but it is really difficult to find out photos from old films where one could appreciate the details of the wardrobe)  

Considered by some experts as the best Hitchcock’s thriller and by others as the best voyeuristic film in the cinema history, Rear Window is a classic that you can’t miss.

¡Hola chicas! ¿Qué tal estáis? Imagino que acabando de disfrutar el fin de semana…

Seguro que recordáis que el pasado viernes os enseñé mi lista de deseos para este otoño. De todos modos ya tenía algunas compras hechas desde hace un tiempo que estoy deseando estrenar: unas botas de ante y piel en color marrón chocolate (¡puestas quedan preciosas!), unos zapatos Oxford en color negro y un bolso de mano un tanto especial como podéis observar…

As you may remember last Friday I showed you my wish list  for  this autumn. Howeevr I already have some new autumn beauties that I bought some time ago and that I’m willing to wear: a pair of suede and leather brown chocolate boots (they fit beautifully!), a pair of black Oxford shoes and a very particular clutch as you can see…

PS: Do you remember that one of my birthday presents was a new camera? Well I finally got it! These pictures are the first I make with it. I feel like a child with a new toy willing to squeeze it to the maximum… ;-)  

My autumn wish list

Si chicas ya es oficial: el otoño ya está aquí. Atrás quedó "el largo y cálido verano" (título también de la famosa película de Paul Newman). Pero la nueva estación llega cargada de ilusión, nuevos proyectos y sobre todo nuevas prendas para nuestro armario. ¿Y qué mejor momento para elaborar vuestra lista de deseos para este otoño? ¡¡Si seguís estos consejos seguro que vuestra compras son un éxito!!

-         Revisa tu armario antes de lanzarte de cabeza a la tiendas

-        Haz una lista de las prendas que más te gustan y que mejor puedan combinarse con lo que ya tienes en el armario.

-         ¡Márcate un presupuesto y respétalo!

-        Cuidado con comprar SÓLO tendencias: el año que viene que te puedes encontrar con un armario lleno de prendas que ya no vas a llevar

-        Y ya sé que soy pesada pero no me canso de decirlo: ¡compra las prendas que realmente favorecen tus formas!

Yes ladies: autumn is officially here. We’ve left behind “the long hot summer” (also the title of that famous Paul Newman’s film). But the new season arrives full of illusion, exciting new projects and beautiful clothes for our wardrobe. And this is an ideal moment to elaborate your autumn wish list!! If you follow these tips I’m sure your buys will be a success.

-         Look into your closet before you rush into the shops

-        Make a list of the clothes you like most and think they best combine with the ones you already have

-         Decide what your budget is and respect it

-        Be careful with buying ONLY trends. Next year you could end up with a closet full of clothes you’re not wearing for a while

-         And I now that I’m such a pain but I can’t stop telling it: buy the clothes that really flatter your shape!!

Jersey+pencil skirt = trendy duo

Otra de las tendencias de esta temporada es la de combinar un jersey holgado o de punto grueso con una falda lápiz (¡¡de piel, de lentejuelas o metalizada es lo más !!) . Como por Barcelona las temperaturas aún no invitan a llevar lana o punto grueso he optado por adaptar la tendencia a un look más de entretiempo con este jersey coral que ya os enseñé aquí.

En esta ocasión lo combino con un vestido de H&M llevado como una falda, mis zapatos abotinados favoritos y ¡¡ mi clutch de Marc by Marc Jacobs que ya habéis visto un montón por aquí!! Como veis el look no tiene mayor secreto pero lo encuentro muy cómodo y ponible para nuestro día a día.

Another of the trends of the season is to combine a slouchy or knitted jersey with a pencil skirt (if you chose leather, paillettes or metalized tones you’ll shine!!) As the weather in Barcelona is still very soft and do not invite to wear wool or thick clothes I’ve opted to adapt the trend in a more transitional look with this coral jersey that I already showed you here  

Here I’ve chosen an H&M dress worn as a skirt, my favourite day shoes and my Marc by Marc Jacobs clutch that you’ve already seen a lot in the blog!! As you can see the outfit is very simple yet I find it very comfortable and wearable for our day to day.
