A principios del mes de junio se inauguró en Getaria (Guipúzcoa) el Museo Balenciaga, el único que existe en el mundo dedicado a este diseñador. Balenciaga es sin duda el más universal de los modistos españoles y el único que ha tenido verdadera transcendencia en la moda e influencia en muchos diseñadores.
Desde niño ya se interesó por el vestir femenino y sus primeros trajes los hizo para la marquesa de Casa Torres (el lugar donde físicamente se encuentra hoy el museo). Sus más importantes aportaciones al mundo de la moda fueron la falda globo, el vestido túnica y el corte baby doll.
La exposición presentará de forma rotatoria su fondo de 1.200 modelos, 87 de los cuales fueron cedidos por Hubert de Givenchy gran admirador del diseñador y presidente de honor de la Fundación Balenciaga. ¡Un lugar que toda amante de la moda debe visitar al menos una vez en la vida!
At the beginning of June the Balenciaga Museum was inaugurated in Getaria (Guipuzcoa). It is the first and only one exclusively dedicated to the designer. Balenciaga is without any doubt the most universal of the Spanish designers and the one that has really had an important significance in the fashion world as well as influence in many other designers.
Since a child, he shown interest by the feminine way of dressing. In fact he designed his first dresses for the marquise of Casa Torres (where the museum is actually located). His main contributions for fashion were the bubble skirt, the tunic dress and the baby doll cut.
The exposition will show 1200 models, 87 of which have been donated by Hubert de Givenchy great admirer of Balenciaga and President of Honour of the Balenciaga Foundation. A place that every fashion lover would visit once in its life!!
